Stellite drills are used for drilling hardened steel even HSS steel.
Used for drilling hard materials over 51C Rockwell.
These drills are used in a drilling machine at a high speed and with considerable pressure and they rely on friction causing the job to get red hot locally so the drill can penetrate.
Using a fast speed hold the drill to the work with a firm pressure . At first nothing happens, as the temperature builds the work piece gets hotter and hotter locally, and suddenly the drill just punches throught the work.
Stellite doesn't exist in a soft state so the heat has little effect on it.
These drills need to heat the component to penetrate and cause metallurgical changes in the material drilled. Sizes are 1/2", 27/64, 13/32", 3/8", 11/32", 5/16" (x3) , 1/4", 2/16", 11/64", and 5/32". A total of 12 bits. The 3/16" and the 11/64" were used once and still in great usable condition. 10 bits are Deloro and the 11/64" and the 27/64" are the Black Drill Co. There are at least 0.00 worth of bits. 10 are new old stock. I have used stellite drills several times and they are easy to use and work well.
